Well, Whitby has hosted a goth weekend for a good few years now. One is around the end of March / April time and a second one around the October / November time. But this year was different, the original organisers have apparently had a fall out. So they each have decided to have their own weekends, which has split the events to four weekends now across the year. The first which was held this weekend will be followed by another next weekend. I personally think this is a very bad thing for the event as a whole. Lots of friends and other people who attend agree, but it is one of those things that will will have to wait and see the outcome off. I did notice a definite reduction in numbers compared to last year.
But as this is supposed to be a photography blog, well nearest dam it ! I want to rant about the attitude, rudeness and just downright disrespect that a lot of so called photographers behave when at this weekend. I could liken them to a bunch of pack predators, but there is always a hierarchy to the packs. Not with this bunch, they pushed, shoved, wandered in front off etc. They see a single or a pair of photographers with a model of just even a event goer that was kind enough to pose for a photo or two when politely asked. Next thing you are surrounded by these GWC's trying to get a shot in, for what use in some cases I dread to think!
I get every so slightly p'ed off when I see this happening all around, but when it happened to me I wanted to explode. But a quick look sorted the problem, straight away.
The one's I feel really sorry for are the ones having the shots taken, as they might feel overwhelmed, intimidated etc. But one thing for sure they won't know where to look because of all the lenses pointed at them. The people who go to this put so much time and effort into their costumes / outfits and appearance, please let them have a weekend without all this crap!
My friend, whom is also a photographer was having to adjust her hat due to a bit of a breeze at the time and one just pops up beside her snaps away then just walks away with out any courtesy at all!
Right my bit of a rant over !
I have just managed to sort out one or two shots from this event, so I get one up at the end of the post. I could add more as I get more processed.
This lady over the couple of times I have managed to grab her and get a quick shot or two has always impressed me with her attention to detail and inventiveness of her outfits. The first one is from yesterday and the second image is from last Octobers event.
Thanks again for dropping by. Till next time !

Lighting the dark in my mind!
Well that past few months has been very hard on myself and my creativity. I am starting to allow the juices to flow again. So I set about a task to use the darkness of the past to create something new!
My images can swing from one end of the spectrum to the other, this one comes from the dark end.
I am working on a few more shots that will be at the darker end of the scale, far removed from my landscape or nature shots. But variety is the spice of life !
I also have been working on a longer term project which I call my 'Bodies' series. This can be seen in full on my flickr stream at http://www.flickr.com/photos/geordi69/sets/72157624782083508/ (edit) well I have just figured out, that the link will only work if you have a flickr account and safe search turned off. It is set as restricted due to the nature of the images.
So if anybody would like to be a 'body' for me, please drop me a line.
Thanks for dropping by.
