I have to say how useless I have been keeping up with the blog. It's been over a year since my last post.

I am currently going through a sort of rebranding as such. I am dropping the GP Images Photography and just going with my name. So it's becoming Graham Pile Photography and when I align my website too, that will also fully reflect the changes when it goes live to www.grahampile.com.

I will also get round to updating my website too, as I think it is just I am only seeming to post to my Flickr account. I do link my images to / from Facebook so that will also need updating.

So as this is supposed to be a photography blog, I think I should post a couple shots anyway !

This first one, Veil of Deception, I only rediscovered a recently that I had only ever posted it to one of the modelling portfolio sites, so have now added it to Flickr.

This next shot was one I took when shooting at the recent Tattoo Jam Tattoo show held at Doncaster race course.

I'm back - Better late than never !!!!

I can't believe I have not updated this for so long. Such a lazy git !

This past week has seen some amazing electrical storms in my local area. On Wednesday night I watched one of the most amazing displays I have ever seen. Constant lightning all around me, but the strange thing it was almost totally silent and dry. Yet about 2 miles away there was loads of damage caused by hailstones about 2 inches across.

I actually was so enthralled by the display that I did not even think for the most part about getting the camera out. But when I did I at least caught one shot with a couple of bolts in it, not much but it was my first attempt.

Was out and about yesterday after looking at a weather forcast of more thunder storms and was able to get a nice shot of he sky about 30 minutes before the storm hit. At that point I was watching the lightning from the dry safety of the pub!

If we are going to get more of these storms, it might be worth while investing in one of the lightning triggers that are availble.
So if anyone has any recomendations or links to reviews of these, please let me know.

Well thanks for dropping by.

Light after death

Well evening all

After all my B&W architectural shots recently, I thought a little bit of colour should pop it's head up. I was actually looking through a couple of folders when I came across this, that I had been working on earlier this year. So I thought it is about time this seen the light of day, please excuse the bad pun !!

Hope you all had a good weekend and thanks for dropping by.

All the best

Filamentous

This is the first in a series of black and white architecture shots that I have done and am planning in the future.
Leeds has some striking new architecture, even though some is now a few years old. The good thing about it, is that you can get some good angles and vantage points to capture and hopefully make some original images.
I just can't wait for this lousy weather to give us a break so I can get out and shoot a bit more, as for my plans I need fairly specific weather. Plus I think everybody could do with a little time in the sun to dry out. :-)

Thanks for dropping by, till next time....

The Survivor

Seasons greetings to you all.

Well I thought I would get up one last post for the year. Another year almost gone, all the challenges and obstacles that have jumped in front of me this year have been made into good learning experiences. I have learnt some good processing tricks, as used in the photo for this post, I also believe that I am progressing on my compositional skills.

I am now thinking about what I want to achieve next year, how to improve and continue to learn. Also planning out some shoots for later in the year.
So everybody get your thinking hats on and get planning for the forth coming year ahead. I would love to go back to Iceland this year, but will have to figure out how to fund it, that will be my next challenge.

Thanks to all for dropping by and putting up with my rants or whatever. I hope you all have a great 2014.

If anyone has any ideas, then just drop me a line.

All the best

Fissures

This is one of the water filled fissures at Thingvellir rift valley in Iceland, this was only the start of my trip around the south coast of Iceland. I saw some amazing sites and I really hope to get back to see the palce in different seasons to see the changes that take place.

I have even got myself inspired enough to create a photobook showing the small selection of Iceland I was able to visit.

Please feel free to have a look at it

Thanks again for dropping by,

The greatest show on earth

One of the shots I took of aurora over Jökulsárlón glaicial lagoon, Iceland.

It was the only night of the trip that there was a show of aurora, so I was very lucky to be in a brill location to capture it.

Iceland is a fantastic place, full of so much scenery of all kinds and descriptions. Huge waterfalls, snow, ice, sea, mountains, black sand, more stuff a photographer could shake a stick at. I have to say all the Icelandic people I met were brilliant.

Now I have been, it's another on my list to revisit!
I will be posting my shots on my flickr pages www.flickr.com/photos/geordi69 and my website over the next week or so, so please drop by and have a look.

Thanks and have a good weekend
